GAF workshops respect the old techniques and raw materials used in paper manufacturing. Production takes place manually, endowing it with a rustic appearance and a unique texture.

The environment is fragile, and so we have major ecological concerns. Our paper is manufactured without the use of glues. The colors are obtained from natural pigments, while the fibers used are recycled form paper, fabrics and plant materials.
Our paper is carefully made as a greatly cared-for product!

The best sheets produced at our workshops allow for screen prints by Author-designed serigraphs and prints containing illustrations and poems. Because this is a handmade recycled paper with a unique texture, made based on principles of solidarity and sound environmental principles, it enhances the aura of artistic works made on these sheets.

From paper sheets made at our recycling workshops using an entirely manual process, we create 3 types of products: Rustic, Japanese and Classic Binding.

In rustic binding, our products are designed to respect the character of handmade recycled paper, thus causing our albums, copybooks and notepads to be products full of genuineness that convey uniqueness and affection.

This age-old molding technique is obtained from sheets of paper and/or plant fibers overlapping each other and connected among themselves using white glue. A paper pulp finishing can be subsequently applied, to achieve the desired texture. Finally, the decorating work is carried out via plain painting, or “decoupage,” or using a blend of techniques.

Noteworthy are the traditional “Cabeçudos” and “Gigantones,” which enliven this region’s Pilgrimages. These are giant heads or giant puppets made of paper mache paste, which are made using this technique. However, our workshops can make a countless number of other sculpted objects, as well as tools and decorative accessories.
